A series of clocks that operate on different time scales, ranging from a millisecond to the estimated lifespan of the planet earth. These clocks were originally exhibited as part of the “Blindspot” exhibition held at Keystone Art Space in Los Angeles in 2014. Most of the clocks are self-explanatory. The “lifetime” clock is calibrated to my estimated age, as calculated by the U.S. Social Security Administration. I was born in 1982, and my life expectancy is 82 years old. The “planet” clock is based on the estimated age of the planet earth (4.5 billion years) and the date at which the sun, as a red-giant, will expand to the radius of earth’s orbit, and envelop our planet (about 9 billion years from now).
